As we enter our 10th Anniversary year for the GSVC, we want your support and participation. It is because of you, that we are able to celebration 10 years of mentoring successful young singers and African American composers. But please…

• Support the next generation of vocalists and composers by attending one of our events. The next event is the Finals Concert, on May 20th at 5pm. This concert is FREE and open to all. Please join us in supporting America’s Rising Opera Stars!
• Please consider supporting aspiring young vocalists, rising composers and the preservation of the African American vocal repertoire with tax-deductible donations to the GSVC.
• Stay tuned for information on how to apply for the 2019 competition cycle. And most importantly come celebrate with us, as we celebrate 10 years of programming and mentorship!
  • The 2019 George Shirley Vocal Competition Application. The competition is open to singers and composers of all races and ethnicities and focuses solely on vocal compositions written for the recital or operatic stage by composers of African American descent. The application for the 2019 competition will be released in October 2018. Sign up below to be notified when the application becomes available.
